Feedback on Weardale MUSEUM
Weardale Museum
Posted on ghislaine headland-vanniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Facebook page clearly states the museum is open every day in September, yet we turned up on Tuesday 24 Sept and it was closed. We drove there especially and as we were only visiting the area for a few days were rather disappointed their information wasn't accurate Weardale Museum, many thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Hopefully we'll be more lucky if we get that way again

Ghislaine, I am so so sorry that we were closed when you called on Tuesday. We are a volunteer run museum and our Curator died suddenly a few weeks ago meaning we have had to make some difficult decisions. One of these has been the difficult decision to restrict our opening hours because of volunteer shortages. We have tried to inform potential visitors through posts on Facebook and through our website but unfortunately some people are still seeing old information which we have been unable to change. We are very sorry that your journey was wasted and if you get in touch with us on another occasion we will ensure that someone is present to give you free entry. Warm welcome.. fascinating artifacts from a way of life long gone but within living memory each with its own fascinating story. Good wishes for the exciting plans for the future .Posted on Angie HowellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very interesting local museum with a friendly informative volunteer. We especially liked the social history of the Weardale people. Artifacts in the living room were fascinating and we particularly liked the the WW1 exhibit and the excellent tapestry done by the very talented local ladies. As a group from Durham, we learned a lot about the history of Weardale and it's people. Good luck with the plans to move to bigger premises!!Posted on Paula MacleodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An excellent museum with so many interesting things to see. From mining to the railway, local fossils and minerals, tapestries and quilting, a Victoria kitchen and John Wesley room. Full of local information including genealogy.Posted on Zander MacleodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A very intimate experience about the working and personal lives of miners and they're families along with those that supported them in the framework of community. Also, a great display of artifacts, tools and what could be considered little gems that tie matters personal to one another. Well worth a visit.Posted on Cameron GTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fascinating place with huge ambition.Load more
